Again

Starting on Friday, October 10, Ba gallery will host a collection of paintings by Rayka Milanian. The exhibition, titled “Again,” will be open to the public until October 24th, 2025.

Rayka Milanian was born in 1969 in Tehran. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Painting in 1994 at Islamic Azad University. This artist has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including national painting biennials and the annual “Manifestation of Emotion” exhibition. Milanian held her first solo exhibition in 1998 at Seyhoun Gallery, and her most recent solo show was in 2018 at Golestan Gallery. Throughout this period, her works have been consistently presented in either group or solo exhibitions every two years. She has held over 10 solo exhibitions to date. Over the course of her career, her artworks have also made their way into the Tehran Auction. Rayka Milanian's works are shaped by a contemplation of nature and the theme of rebirth.

Statement

Flowers belong to every memory, and the soil of each recollection is rich with their constant and renewed presence. Flowers with every withering, promise to bloom again continue to grow and endure in Rayka Milanian’s works, their forms softened and details fading, yet still blossoming across vases, fields, and even women’s faces. The flowers in the “Again” series disregard Saadi’s verse: “The lifes of a flower lasts five or six days.” These flowers, through different periods and a symbolic lens, depict frames from the artist’s life intertwined with her moments of fading and renewal. “Again” is an invitation to a new gaze, a hopeful call toward rebirth.
