"Liminal" comes to Ba Gallery

May 15, 2025

5 Sheyda Monajemi Winter Bound Liminal Series Mixed Media on Plywood 80x60 1404(2025)

In the exhibition statement, Monjemi writes: “This collection, driven by an exploration of the hidden layers of materials, places ‘nature’—as both a powerful and delicate force—at the center of its visual approach. The creative process is built on continuous transformation: repeatedly layering thick materials, subtracting and adding, and collaging paper onto wooden surfaces. The influence of the earth’s fluid and unstable elements, intertwined with the tension between form and matter, has guided a contemplative path in the making of these works—a path where meaning lies not in the final outcome, but in the process itself.

The works in this series portray the visible and invisible realms of the earth through an abstract lens—a point where the buried memories of the earth emerge with greater clarity, and the subterranean and celestial worlds merge in a visual interplay.”

Sheyda Monajemi, born in 1994 in Gilan, holds a B.A. in Painting from the Faculty of Art and Architecture at the University of Gilan and an M.A. in Painting from the University of Art, Tehran. She has participated in several group exhibitions. In her mixed media works, Monajemi emphasizes the process of artistic exploration, creating a dynamic dialogue between form, material, and composition.

Those interested in visiting the exhibition can do so until May 30, daily from 4 to 8 PM, and on Fridays from 5 to 8 PM, at Ba Gallery.
