On the Liminal of the hidden layers
May 13, 2025
A solo exhibition of Sheyda Monajemi's works, titled "Liminal", will open on Friday, May 16 at Ba gallery.
According to Honar Online, Sheyda Monajemi was born in 1994 in Gilan and is one of the young artists in visual arts. He holds a bachelor's degree in painting from the Faculty of Art and Architecture of the University of Gilan and a master's degree in painting from Tehran University of Art. Monajemi has participated in several group exhibitions. In his works that have the technique of combining materials, he has paid special attention to the process of "artistic revelation" to create a dynamic dialogue between form, matter, and composition.
In the exhibition's statement, Monajemi wrote: "This collection, following the search for hidden layers of materials, places 'nature' as a powerful and delicate force at the center of the visual approach. The process of creating works is based on continuous evolution: by repeatedly stacking thick layers of materials, removing and adding and collaging paper on wooden surfaces. The influence of the unstable and fluid components of the earth in connection with the tensions between form and matter has helped to chart a revelatory path in the creation of the works of this collection, a path whose importance lies not in the final result but in the "process" itself.
The works in this collection depict the two realms of the earth with an abstract view, a point where everything hidden in the earth's memory is more clearly revealed, and the two worlds below and above are intertwined in a visual action."
Those interested in visiting this exhibition can attend the gallery until May 30 every day from 16:00 to 20:00 and on Fridays from 17:00 to 20:00.
