"The Alleys" come alive alongside the “Art Month.”
Aug 20, 2026
According to Mehr News Agency, the group exhibition “The Alleys” will open on Friday, August 21, as part of the “Tehran Art Month” event at Ba Gallery. The exhibition features artworks by Maryam Salour, Afsaneh Modiramani, and Maryam Shakerchian, focusing on urban elements.
Part of the exhibition statement reads: “The Alley is the mother and driving force of the city. In the traditional sense, alleys, with their familiar twists and turns and their mudbrick or brick walls, provided shade and shelter from the desert winds and organized life on a human scale. The social interactions that emerged from alleys, the formation of local economies, and the culture shaped by cafés, religious institutions, and other such spaces all eventually became part of the city. Even reflecting on changes in the names of alleys today tells a story about the political and social developments of each city.
Trees, doors, windows, and neighboring relationships all find their place within the alley, and these very elements carry the memories of the city. The Alley becomes a reflection of the city, which is why Persian literature including the poetry of poets such as Ahmad Shamlou and Forough Farrokhzad and memorable songs by artists in the field of music, such as Shahriyar Ghanbari, have repeatedly and deeply intertwined with the idea of the Alley.”
Those interested in visiting the “The Alleys” exhibition can see the artworks at Ba Gallery every day from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Fridays from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
