Mohammadreza Shirvanizadeh’s Solo Exhibition Opens at Ba Gallery
“The Geometry of Dance” Among Colors
A solo exhibition of paintings by Mohammadreza Shirvanizadeh, titled The Geometry of Dance, will open on Friday, July 17, at Ba Gallery.
Curated by Mozhdeh Hassani, the exhibition explores the concept of existential duality through the forms and techniques employed in Shirvanizadeh’s works.
An excerpt from the exhibition statement, written by Hossein Ganji, reads: “Geometry is the mechanism that guides the gaze, while dance suspends its certainty. Flat colors and structured surfaces, set against fragmented bodies, animals, and painterly lines, create an unstable order. These works portray neither chaos nor balance; rather, they capture the moment in which order and disorder become possible through one another.”
Visitors can view The Geometry of Dance daily from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Fridays from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., through July 31.
Ba Gallery Address: 6th Floor, Units 602 and 603, Modern Plaza Building, No. 1, Nastaran Alley, Baharan Street, Nakhl Street, Artesh Boulevard, Tehran

Statement
"Chaos was the law of nature; order was the dream of man." — Henry Adams
The paintings in this series emerge at the threshold between two realms: geometry and flow, order and liberation, structure and desire. Employing the visual language of Pop art, pure colors, and flat surfaces alongside organic, twisting, and unstable forms, Shirvanizadeh creates a world that is at once constructed and alive. In these works, geometry is not merely a formal element; it serves as a framework for directing the viewer’s gaze and organizing space. In contrast, chromatic masses, animals, clowns, and figures appear as untamed, unruly forces that evade all certainty and equilibrium. From this perspective, Shirvanizadeh’s paintings recall Herbert Read’s reflection on the nature of art, where he writes: "Art is itself an organized structure; an order imposed upon the chaos of life. " Yet what these artworks present is neither the complete triumph of order nor the dominance of chaos, but an unstable condition in which these two forces continually summon and disrupt one another. The result of this tension is neither absolute chaos nor perfect order, but an enduring dance between the two. "The Geometry of Dance" is a meditation on living in a world perpetually suspended between control and freedom, reason and intuition, reality and imagination; A world with which one can only move in harmony, never seek to master.

Boldness is the Artist's savior.

Boldness is among the first words that comes to mind when viewing Mohammadreza Shirvanizadeh’s paintings. The large scale of the artworks the largest measuring just under two meters in height and just under one and a half meters in width immediately commands the viewer’s attention. At the same time, the artist’s insistence on placing vibrant interwoven undulating forms at the center of the composition irresistibly draws the eye, while the abundance of pure, saturated colors spread across the canvases creates a rich chromatic world that, in combination with the monumental scale of the paintings, encourages close attention to their details. Together, these qualities suggest the presence of a bold artist who clearly delights in the physical act of painting and in engaging directly with its materials.
